Two Reasons Why You Should Get Your Contractor's License
Published October 9th, 2017

One of the most frequently asked questions about becoming a contractor is whether or not it is a good idea to get your contractor's license. Here are two reasons why we think you should seriously consider it.

  1. Getting your license is an opportunity to build trust with your future customers.

Horror stories of substandard work done by unlicensed contractors abound on and off the internet. Because of those stories, one bit of advice frequently passed on to people who are considering hiring a contractor is to ask the questions "Are you licensed?" and "Where are you licensed to work?" Licensing requirements in Arizona, as well as other states, include providing valid bond information with the application. This step is meant to protect consumers in case something goes wrong. A license tells future customers the work will get done if they hire you.

  1. Customers will pay more for a licensed contractor.

It is true. A license adds value to your services because it says two things about you. One thing is that you are qualified to do the type of work they want to hire you for. The other thing, as stated above, is a guarantee that they will get the work done if they hire you. People will pay more for services when they see the value, and a contractor's license builds your value in their eyes.
