How do I schedule my Arizona contractor license exam? Testing must be scheduled directly with Thompson Prometric - 1-800-899-4089. Please allow 3-14 days for scheduling. If you plan on testing during your visit with our office, please plan accordingly.
You should have received an "Examination Report" with your correspondence from our office. This will advise you of the proper examinations to request, places to write your confirmation number and ID# provided by Thompson Prometric, the dates and times of your exams, and the various testing facilities located in Arizona for you to choose from. If you have not received this form, please contact your representative for this information prior to scheduling your exam(s).
Please Note: Once your payment is made with Thompson Prometric, you will only have 90 days in which to schedule and take your exam(s). When you schedule your exams, they will advise you on the date you must take your test by. Please make sure to write this down. We have provided a place on our examination report for this information.
Am I allowed to take notes? We have insured that the information you will be studying is the most condensed and up-to-date information available. Company policy does not allow notes to be taken on the material you will be studying. We request that all briefcases and notepads be left outside of the office as well.
How Much Time Do I Need To Study? Please allow ample time to study on site. We have trained personnel that can handle your questions and provide you with the assistance needed to pass the exams. We recommend a minimum of 8 hours per exam for study preparation time, but you are welcome to take as much time as needed.
How Do I Meet the State Requirements for Qualification for an Arizona license? All Arizona licenses require between 1 year and 4 years experience in the field in which you are applying for. This information should have already been discussed with our representative, but if you still have questions, please contact our office for further clarification.
What if I am convicted of a Felony? If you or any officer, partner or member of the company have had a felony conviction in the past, this information must be disclosed to the Arizona Registrar of Contractors regardless of how long ago the incident(s) occurred.
This process may take anywhere from 10 to 12 weeks to receive a letter from the Registrar of Contractors advising if you are eligible to apply for a contractors license. We advise that you contact their office as soon as possible to get the necessary paperwork needed to start the process.
Their office can be contacted by calling 602-542-1525. Please note that applications can be submitted without receiving approval, but will be put on a "hold" status until this information is received. If the information is not received in a timely manner, your application may be rejected.
